Hawkinsâ musical contemporaries immediately took to Twitter and Instagram to share their RIP messages for the drummer and to celebrate his âspirit and unstoppable rock power,â as Rage Against the Machine and Audioslaveâs Tom Morello put it. Ozzy Osbourne remembered Hawkins as âa great person and an amazing musician.â Kissâ Paul Stanley wrote that he was âspeechless and guttedâ by the news.
In the Foo Fightersâ own statement, the band highlighted the 50-year-oldâs âmusical spirit and infectious laughter.â
