Sharon Osbourne has spoken out about her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s death in a comment posted to Instagram. The iconic Black Sabbath singer died on Tuesday at the age of 76.
The couple met in 1970 when Sharon’s father, Don Arden, was managing Black Sabbath. They got married in 1982 following Ozzy’s divorce from his first wife, Thelma Riley.
On Tuesday, Jack Saunders, a British DJ and presenter for BBC Radio 1, said he learned of Ozzy Osbourne’s death while presenting live on air.
In a statement shared to Instagram, alongside a clip of the moment, Saunders wrote: “As I was on air tonight, the news broke that we had lost one of the greatest showman the world of metal and music has ever seen. The bands and artists that dare to fly the flag in the name of rock n roll do so because Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath did first. He was a blessing to music. Rest In Peace the Prince Of Darkness.”
Sharon commented on Wednesday: “Jack thank you for your tribute to Ozzy tonight, Bless you.” The comment had 6,612 likes at the time of publication.
The Osbournes star previously announced her husband’s death in a statement posted on social media.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
