The world lost a legend on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, with the passing of Ozzy Osbourne. A pioneer. A king. The Prince of Darkness. A true architect of heavy metal through his legacy with Black Sabbath and his unforgettable solo career. Ozzy was 76 years old.
He had been battling Parkinson’s disease since his 2020 diagnosis, along with complications from spinal injuries sustained in a 2018 accident. While his family has asked for privacy during this time, fans will forever remember the way he went out, on his own terms.
Just weeks before his death, on July 5, Ozzy took the stage one final time at Villa Park in Birmingham for Back to the Beginning, a monumental farewell that served as his last solo performance and final reunion with Black Sabbath. It was a historic sendoff, surrounded by adoring fans and fellow artists who were deeply inspired by him. Metallica, Tool, Slayer, Anthrax, and many more joined the event, paying tribute to the very band that helped birth an entire genre.
Though Ozzy is no longer with us, his spirit lives on through decades of music, iconic live shows, his reality TV legacy, and what’s still to come. His final memoir, Last Rites, is due this October. A documentary titled No Escape From Now, chronicling his health struggles and the 2018 accident, is set to premiere on Paramount+ later this year. And in 2026, Back to the Beginning will receive a full theatrical release, allowing fans to relive that final night.
Since the heartbreaking news, tributes have flooded social media from all corners of the globe. While it’s impossible to capture them all, we’ve compiled many powerful and heartfelt messages into one cohesive tribute, because Ozzy Osbourne deserves nothing less.
